Pearson Edexcel cancelled all International A Level exams in the UAE for the May/June 2026 series, and grades were awarded from evidence such as mock exam papers and other assessed work rather than from exam-hall papers. That is the single fact every 2027 IAL Biology family in the UAE needs to plan around.

Here is what Pearson's own guidance for students affected by the conflict in the Middle East says, in plain terms. Exams in schools were cancelled in Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar for May/June 2026. That applied to both the Ofqual-regulated A levels and Pearson's own International A levels. Where a school did not already hold enough evidence, students could be asked to sit an additional assessment under exam-style conditions, in school or at home. Grades based on a portfolio can be reviewed by a senior examiner, and that review can take up to 20 calendar days.

Cambridge did the same. How I tell UAE students to revise IAL Biology

The method that produced the June 2026 results is simple: minimise the time spent receiving information and maximise the time spent solving. Why do I keep saying save time? Because every hour you save in a study session is an hour you can spend on practice, and practice is where IAL Biology marks come from.

First, you have to change the mindset you brought from IGCSE. The questions are different. The way they grade you is different. Many students who scored 9s and A stars at IGCSE get shocked in the first month of AS, fail a quiz or two, and their parents get upset. That is normal. What is not normal is keeping the same mistakes.

Here is the weekly loop I run with my own classes, and it works the same if you are at school with a tutor.
